Medjool date is considered the first commercial cultivar around the world which has been brought by the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad from Africa to Iran 10 years ago and was cultivated in agricultural research stations as trial planting.
This cultivar was fructified this year and introduced as the high quality and compatible products the Iranian farmers relying on the researchers’ efforts of the Jahrom Agricultural Research Center and breeding works
The researchers initiated the studies and reproduced the original base of this cultivar to increase and improve the quality of the Iran’s date productions by conducting the quarantine and dust testing experiments.
Some of the advantages of this product include: semi-dried, high productivity, thin skin, high ratio of meat to skin and reasonable price in the world market.
